During a quilt guild presentation:
Enjoy the fascinating
story of old-fashioned chenille and its humble beginning at the
hands of Katherine Evans-Whitener, a 12 year old girl, in 1895.
See how women working together helped chenille production become
one of the largest cottage industries in the history of our country.
Donna and Fran then
recount the invention of Chenille By The Inch, a modern
day innovation of a pre-sewn chenille strip, and the birth of
our company, Fabric Cafe. We end the presentation with a demonstration
of how to use Chenille By The Inch, a viewing of our most
popular quilts, and a book signing. We'll cover easy piecing,
machine applique techniques, and the application of Chenille
By The Inch. The final portion of the workshop will give hands-on
experience in taking the chenille strips from flat to fluffy in
a jiffy. We have several designs from which to choose, and we're
happy to tailor a workshop to meet your needs.
Available as a PowerPoint
presentation, the program includes fascinating photos of the first
chenille spread made by adolescent Katherine Evans-Whitener, as
well as many more historical photos that bring this subject alive.
Optional 3-hour
workshop after your guild meeting:
We'll take participants
step-by-step through making a fun project using Chenille By
The Inch.
